Awards are made annually and applications for 2018 can be submitted from Monday, 23rd July 2018. The closing date for applications is Thursday, 6th September 2018.

From 2017 onwards, we will only accept electronic applications submitted by the official online application form, a link to which is at the bottom of this page.

Students who are shortlisted will need to make themselves available for an interview by the Panel. These personal interviews are a selection prerequisite and this year, will be held on Wednesday, 26th September 2018

Please read through the following requirements carefully BEFORE starting the online application process. If you would like to review the application form questions before beginning the online application process, please click here to download a summary of these questions.

Applicants must be registered students at the University of Cape Town at the time of applying, and hold a recognised student leadership position at UCT.

Awards are made annually and candidates will be assessed according to the ideals of the Awards, as outlined in the information on this website.

What happens after you submit your application?

The Trustees will review all applications received before the deadline and will shortlist between 10 and 15 candidates for a follow-up interview. Shortlisted students must make themselves available for a personal interview by the Selection Panel should they wish to be considered for the award.

Shortlisted students will be contacted personally by the Scholarship Administrator to inform them that they have been shortlisted and confirm their attendance at the interview.

Once the interviews are complete, the Selection Panel will meet to finalise the winners. The Selection Panel’s decision is final.

Winners will be announced at the same time as UCT’s Student Leadership Awards ceremony. This date is decided by the University each year, but is traditionally held in the fourth quarter.
